The elaborate and colourful designs of Prae Wa silk in Kalasin are praised as the ‘queen of silks,’ woven by the ‘Phu Thai’ settlers, descendants of Vietnamese immigrants from Meung Taeng.
The annual Phae Wa festival celebrating the beauty of this fabric will be held from August 15-20 in Kalasin province. The silk festival will also features a variety of contests and competitions, including the finest Prae Wa silk, a Prae Wa costume contest, Pong Lang folk entertainment, and a spectacular fashion show of Prae Wa by top models.
